Director to the 22nd world scout jamboree in sweden 2011.

It was a very exciting news when in July 2011, the Director/Chaplain SPACID of Kyangwali Refugee settlement Rev. Kizito was selected to be one of the country’s outstanding official and senior scout to attend the 22nd world scout Jamboree which was to take place at Rinkaby in Sweden. As you may notice, this Jamboree was held in Rinkaby, a place just outside the town of Kristianstad, in the southern part of Sweden.

The small village of Rinkaby dates back to the 9th Century, but the area was inhabited by people even earlier than that. Today, the village has approximately 700 residents. So, this is the area where over 40,000 people from all over 142 countries convened. More about the area visit www. Kristianstad or www.skane.com
This international scout event took place from 27th July to 7th August 2011.
A world scout Jamboree to which the director was invited to attend and indeed attended, is a gathering of scouts from all over the world where they interacted with nature, adventure and exchange cultures and be able to accept and learn from one another. It is indeed a great event in ones life, and takes place every after three to five years, in a country and locationdesignated by the international Scout governing committee , just like the world cup. So, in Sweden over 38,000 scouts and dignitaries from countries and governments of over 142 countries spent the two weeks living everything simply scouting  had to offer. The motto for this international gathering was “simply scouting-nothing more, nothing less”.
So, through the Uganda Scouts Association, Rev. Kizito with a few other scout commissioners set off for Sweden in the early weeks of July.

With a brief stop over in Braxells, traveled through Copenhagen of Denmark took train to Malmo on 25th July 2011, then took a train to Kristianstad. FromKristianstadstation  a brandy new bus was awaiting to transport the three officers including the chaplain to the Jamboree Rinkaby destination, a thirty minutes drive.
Finally, it is good news to report that all about Rev. Kizito’s journey to Sweden and the purpose of the 22nd world scout Jamboree went so well.
And a great gift of International experience not only to him, but also to our nation Uganda where the prospects of peace have to generate first of all through our youths and then to the entire population.

A commodity for which Rev. Kizito has striven for all his life as a distinguished leader.
Meanwhile looking forward to the next 23rd world Scout Jamboree (23WSJ) in 2015 at Kirara-hama in Yamaguchi-Japan.
P/S While in Sweden, Rev. Kizito received a highly distinguished AWARD in form of the Scout Stave as a recognition from the America 22nd Scout Jamboree Committee. Congratulations!! Bravo
